Building Implementation Skills

Developing the capacity of individuals, teams and organisations to implement research is a fundamental part of the work of the Translating Knowledge into Action theme. This objective is being achieved in three ways.  These are:

  1. Through a secondment model whereby clinical and academic staff are seconded to work on specific implementation projects;
  2. By offering placements for NIHR MSc Clinical Research students, and other MSc students studying at the School of Health and Related Research, University of Sheffield;
  3. Offering a range of training and development opportunities for clinical and academic teams, whilst working with managers to promote evidence-based cultural change.

This section contains the reflections of secondees and MSc students who contributed to the Theme between 2009 and 2012.  Their comments illustrate a variety of professional and personal learning about change which is being sustained to benefit the health communities in South Yorkshire.
