COPD Theme Team
Angela Green M(Phil), GradDipPhys is a Respiratory Researcher funded by CLAHRC SY (based within NHS Rotherham. She is the Project Manager for the COPD theme and lead for GP Referrals Audit, Home Oxygen pathway and provides support to NHS Rotherham COPD pathway group.
Her background is that of Respiratory physiotherapy and she has worked in both acute and community settings. Her specific interests are around research and implementation of COPD management.
John Miles is a consultant physician and Clinical Director of Medicine at the Rotherham Foundation Trust. He qualified from St Mary's Hospital, London, in 1986, followed by respiratory training in Birmingham. He is also a consultant at North Manchester (1996-2013) with interests in asthma, allergy, COPD and pleural disease. He also obtained a Masters in Medical Education from the University of Sheffield in 2005. John's research interests include: Severe asthma with Prof. Jon Ayres, Birmingham, and Asthma and Viruses with Prof. Richard Beasley in Wellington, New Zealand.
Gail Miles MSc, BA, RGN, RMBreathingSpace a unique nurse led community based centre for people with respiratory disease which opened in 2007. The unit provides large scale Pulmonary Rehabilitation, an outpatient assessment service and a 20 bedded inpatient unit for patients with acute exacerbations of respiratory conditions.
Before coming to Rotherham, Gail has previously worked extensively in respiratory nursing in both primary and secondary care in Edinburgh and Chesterfield.
Professor Elizabeth Goyder MD FFPH MRCGP is the Health Inequalities Theme Lead but has also been involved in supporting and advising COPD Theme project work, particularly the BreathingSpace Evaluation project work in the first year of CLAHRC SY. Liddy joined ScHARR in September 1998 and is currently a Professor of Public Health and Deputy Dean of ScHARR at The University of Sheffield. Since completing higher specialist training in general practice and public health, she has pursued interests in both developing the public health evidence base and getting evidence into practice through research and teaching.
