Stroke Theme Introduction


Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability in the United Kingdom and the third largest cause of death. Each year around 150,000 strokes occur in the UK. The CLAHRC SY Stroke Theme has engaged in a range of research and implementation projects relating closely to key stages of the care pathway. The Theme has established close working relationships with the stroke network in South Yorkshire, including: providers; commissioners; patients, carers and service users and the voluntary sector.
