PPI is very important to NIHR CLAHRC for South Yorkshire. For our mission for research findings to become healthcare practice we need input from patients and the public to ensure the changes we are making are the right ones for users of healthcare services. Since early 2010, each time we plan a new research project within CLAHRC SY it is offered to a service user and carer group, Barnsley CRAG (Consumers in Research Advisory Group), so that PPI aspects of the proposal can be reviewed and developed further.
The value of PPI in research is introduced through the document ‘Understanding PPI’, viewable here, and in the following short documentary, which was filmed during a PPI event in March 2011.
