Be Involved! PPI Website
As a CLAHRC we are fully committed to working with patients and carers in the design and delivery of our work. We decided to take this one step further by developing a pilot website to disseminate the work of CLAHRC SY, promote involvement opportunities and raise the profile of CLAHRC SY amongst South Yorkshire communities.

We have developed a website with the public for the public using participatory website design methods and documenting the process so that it can be used as a reference point and a learning tool.

We conducted three participatory design workshops with a diverse and very motivated group of ten PPI participants, who have brought a wide range of health experiences to the table. This has included individuals with visual impairment, long-term neurological conditions, dyslexia, English as a second language, BME groups, and mental health service users.
These workshops were a real eye opener, and we learnt much from the participants in terms of the accessibility, usability and content for the website, and indeed what its core objectives and unique selling points should be.

Across the three workshops we have gradually developed and built the website in liaison with the participants, based upon the extensive information and feedback gathered. This has included developing the layout and content of the site, as well as determining a name and style of language.

The pilot website is called ‘Be Involved’, and can be viewed here
